Second SUPR attempt at Thunder Valley called for rain

GLENMORA, LA (June 6, 1999) – The O’Reilly’s Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) Series was rained out at Thunder Valley Speedway, Sunday. A late afternoon deluge halted the Late Model action with 11 laps complete in the SUPR feature. After several minutes of discussion, racers and track officials elected to call the race.

The race had not reached the halfway mark and so the race was not official and all drivers were awarded the same purse and points. Track officials had offered to finish the feature as part of their 4th of July race but several drivers cited scheduling conflicts and the decision was made to call the race.

Dave Siegert was leading the race when racing was halted. He got by Bubba Mullins, who led from the start, when Mullins tangled with Carey Babin at the start finish line. Mullins kept his car going but fell to second, ahead of Ronny Adams, Keith Craft and Duke Whiseant. The rains came down before the race could be restarted.

Heat winners were Mullins, Adams, Siegert and Craft, with Howard Willis claiming the Last Chance race. Siegert was the GRT Top Qualifier based on his heat race performance.
