| _ | Late Models to invade Lone Star Speedway Baton Rouge, Louisiana (March 20, 2002) – The O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Series returns to action Saturday night with a visit to Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas. Leading that charge will be Kenny Merchant. Merchant, driver of the J. D. Caver/Goddard Performance/Kuntz & Company Ford Mustang Warrior, will be looking for his 3rd straight O’Reilly SUPR victory. Merchant claimed a victory during both nights of the season opening Mardi Gras Nationals at Pike County Speedway in McComb, Mississippi and he hopes to continue a recent hot streak that has seen him win 5 of the last 12 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model events. Rodney Wing, of Meridian, Mississippi is expected to return to Lone Star Speedway after a one-year absence and he is looking to improve on a pair of runner-up finishes to Merchant at the Mardi Gras Nationals. Driving the B&K Underground/Boland Performance/ Styling Signs and Graphics Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rocket, Wing is the 2000 rookie of the year and he is expected to be a strong competitor for the 2002 O’Reilly SUPR Championship. David Ashley, of Zachary, Louisiana is another driver that can be considered a championship contender. Ashley, the 1999 O’Reilly SUPR Champion has teamed up with fellow driver Randy Cook and appears to be well positioned for another championship run in his First Bank/Thornhill Towing Chevrolet Monte Carlo Larry Shaw Race Car. Of course, whenever the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models visit Lone Star Speedway, you can expect to see a strong contingency of East Texas competitors. Ricky Ingalls, Michael Coleman, Doug Ingalls, Jason Ingalls, Steve Latson, Jeff Shaver, Ray Ingalls, Paul Joyner and Texas native Ronny Adams are all drivers that can be considered a threat to win this weekend. Gates will open at 4:00 with the racing getting underway at 7:30. In addition to the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models, Lone Star Speedway will also feature racing with the I Stocks, Pure Stocks, Mini Modifieds and IMCA Modifieds all be part of the show this Saturday night at Lone Star Speedway.
