Magnolia,
Mississippi (May 25, 2002) - Michael Herrington claimed his second win of
the young O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car season at Pike County Speedway.
Herrington, from Prairieville, Louisiana recovered from a nasty
weekend last time out that saw him tag the outside wall during hot laps
and then flip his car in the feature. This time, Herrington wasn’t giving any quarter, as he
topped his heat race and easily outdistanced fellow heat race winner,
Butch David at the start. Herrington
would go on to lead all 25 laps to take the victory in his Trailer
World-backed sprinter. And
while Herrington was pulling away from the field, Butch David was
struggling with a poorly handling racecar.
This allowed Harold Henderson to close in on David and the pair
battled side-by-side for several laps before Henderson was able to take
over second place on lap 6. Henderson
tried to run down Herrington but he ran out of laps.
David continued to race on with an ill-handling sprinter and was
able to hold off the challenge from 4th place finisher Darrel
Hyde. Rounding out the top 5 was Glenn LeBlanc. Terry
Vidrine claimed his third Wynn’s Hard Charger award of the season while
recording an 8th place finish.
The
O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars will return to action on June15th as they
visit Boothill Speedway for the first time. Official
