Surrett Rockets to Third SUPR Win

Greenwood, Louisiana -- July 5th.  Tommy Surrett of Little Rock, Arkansas drove around the outside of early pace setter Odie Green on lap seven and continued his breakout season in the O'Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Models by winning the 50 lap feature at Boothill Speedway Friday night for his third win of the season.  Surrett had to use his Lando Patton/Daniels Family/Ronald Surrett Contracting Keith Craft-powered Ford Mustang Rocket in the closing laps to fend off another strong performance by 13-time Boothill track champion Ronny Adams.  Once out in front, Surrett was the class of the field but passing became very difficult after the first ten laps as the track took rubber and became very fast.  Surrett could pull away from Adams until he caught a car at the back of the field.  Adams was able to get along side of Surrett's #27 in turns one and two late in the race when Tommy was trapped but could not complete the pass and had to settle for second in his C. Wrights Machine Tools/Wilhelm Sales and Service Neely and Associates powered Pontiac Grand Prix GRT.

Green -- the 2001 SUPR Rookie of the Year -- earned the B&K Underground Top Qualifier pole position by earning the most passing points in winning his heat.  Surrett started beside Green on the front row but it was Odie's Directional Services of Bossier City 2002 GRT Chevy Monte Carlo #15 that took command at the start.  Surrett used the outside lane to pull along side of Green early but Odie fought him off until Surrett pulled to the outside again on lap five.  The pair ran over a lap door-to-door until Surrett pulled ahead for good.  Green ran a solid second as the track locked down to a single black groove in the middle.  Odie pushed in turn three on lap twenty-six which allowed third running David Ashley in the Thornhill Wrecker/Benny's Car Wash/Ace Pallets and Storage/J&J Motorsports Keith Craft powered Chevy Monte Carlo Larry Shaw to pull along side.  Ashley's time in second place was short lived however as fourth running Adams took advantage of Ashley's loss of momentum to move under Ashley and into second.  Ashley finished third and Green fourth.

Jason Ingalls used the low side of the race track in the early laps to move around third row starters Rob Litton and Jeff Chanler and move into fifth place on lap five.  Ingalls was on Green's bumper at the finish.  Litton, Chanler, Ricky Ingalls and April's Boothill SUPR winner Lee Davis finished sixth through ninth.  O'Reilly Auto Parts SUPR Late Model points leader Rodney Wing started twelfth and finished tenth after winning at Baton  Rouge Raceway on Thursday night.  Ashley is second in points and had a run from 20th place to second in Baton Rouge to go along with his third tonight.

Ryan Plaisance earned the Lloyd Wild Jr. Logging Hard Charger award.  Green, Surrett, Ashley, Adams and Litton won the heats.  Curt Lipsey and Plaisance won the last chance races.  There were 33 cars entered.
