Jody Prince storms the high for second win of the season

Chatham, Louisiana (May 24, 2003) - Jody Prince stormed the high side of Fast Trax Motorplex to stake claim to his second O’Reilly SUPR Late Model victory of the season and his career.  Prince started eight in the feature and quickly found his way to the high groove of the track that provided plenty of choices.  Prince took a few laps to get rolling but he soon made his presence known as he used a lap 17 restart to jump in to the top five and within two laps, he was running second to Kenny Merchant, who used the same restart to power by Jon Mitchell for the lead.

Jody’s hold on the lead was never completely secure as he had to hold off a whole slew of drivers including 19th starting Doug Ingalls who used the bottom of the track to charge all the way to the lead on lap 35.  Doug’s lead was a short-lived lead as Prince got back by on lap 36.  Doug kept charging but an encounter with an infield tire forced Doug to battle an ill handling car for the remainder of the race.  Ingalls managed to bring his car home in fifth.

Robbie Starnes was another driver that was in contention for the lead throughout the night, but despite a solid race car, Starnes was never able to stick his nose into the lead.but he was able to use the center of the racetrack to stay near the battle for the lead at all times.  Starnes hung on to second as the checkers waved.  Starnes was just ahead of James Ward, Curt Lipsey and Doug Ingalls.

Jon Mitchell is another driver that found the top side of the track to his liking.  Mitchell followed Prince right to the front and appeared to be capable of battling Ward for the lead but a brush with the outside wall in turn one took away much of his rear spoiler and Mitchell faded to 8th at the checkers.

34 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand.  Robbie Starnes, Ryan Plaisance, Rob Litton, Scott Slay and Bill Avant took the heat race wins while Dennis Duncan and Keith Craft took the last chance victories.  Plaisance’s heat race victory earned him the B&K Underground Top Qualifier.  David Ashley started 21st and passed 12 cars to finish 9th and earned the Lloyd Wild Jr. Logging Hard Charger Award.
