McComb, Mississippi (May 24, 2003) - Terry Vidrine served notice earlier in the season that he was going to be a force to be dealt with on the O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Series by winning a pre-season tune up event at Baton Rouge Raceway. Tonight he delivered on that promise as he shot to the lead from his second row starting position and grabbed the lead from the start and then went on to lead all 25 laps to take his first O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car feature of his career. Vidrine topped a strong field of contenders including defending O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Champion Butch David and the winningest driver on the circuit, Michael Herrington. Vidrine becomes the fifth different winner in the first six races on the O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Series, a stark contrast to last season when two drivers dominated the action, Butch David and Michael Herrington and they started on the front row for tonight's feature. But despite their solid starting spots neither driver was a match for Vidrine as he dove underneath the front row to grab the lead and he let David and Herrington battle for second. Herrington appeared to have the better hand early in the battle but he soon lost a cylinder and David was able to move by to grab the spot. Still, with 6 races in, David has yet to reach winner's circle in defense of his 2002 O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Championship. Herrington's third place finish allowed him to maintain his lead in the battle for the 2003 crown but Vidrine helped close the gap to 66 points with his victory. 16 O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars were on hand. Harold Henderson, Butch David and Terry Vidrine won the three heat races. Official Results:
