Glenmora, Louisiana (June 21, 2003) – Rob Litton found the home cooking to his liking as he earned the B&K Underground Top Qualifier award, started on the pole and then led all 50-laps to take his first O’Reilly SUPR Late Model feature victory of the season at Thunder Valley Speedway in Glenmora, Louisiana. Litton from nearby Alexandria has had a strong early season with his new LMS Truck Center/Graphic Imaging/Brown’s Trucking Wall2Wall-powered Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rocket but tonight he put it all together to take the win. Litton started on the pole and quickly found his preferred line and he was able to maintain that track position throughout the night but it wasn’t easy as he was under constant pressure from Robbie Starnes and Kenny Merchant. With Starnes having claimed a win in May and Merchant having claimed 6 victories in the first 13 races, Litton was being challenged by two of the best on the tour but he was ready for the challenge. Starnes ran the highline with Merchant charging the bottom but Litton found the fastest way around the quarter mile facility was right in the middle and it with neither Starnes nor Merchant able to shake each other, Litton was able to hold the pair at bay. The win marked Litton’s fourth visit to victory lane on the O’Reilly SUPR Late Model tour. James Ward finished fourth to solidify his hold on second place but Kenny Merchant’s third place finish helped Merchant stretch his lead in the battle for the 2003 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Championship to 161 points. Ward was followed by fellow two-time winner Jody Prince in fifth place. David Lafleur recorded his best O’Reilly SUPR finish in sixth just ahead of Trey Beene, Lloyd Wild Jr. Logging Hard Charger Ryan Plaisance, Billy McDonald and Phil Cooper. 35 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand with James Ward, Robbie Starnes, Donald Watson, Brock Williams and David Ashley taking the heat race wins and Jody Prince and Allen Tippen topping the Last Chance races.
