Baton Rouge, Louisiana (July 9, 2003) – The O’Reilly SUPR Sprints Cars are set for a big two day race weekend with a big Friday night show at Baton Rouge Raceway and then another big Saturday night show at Jackson Motor Speedway. That is if the rain settles down over the Gulf South. Rains washed out the O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars at Pike County Speedway last Saturday night and also lead to the cancellation of races at both Baton Rouge Raceway and Jackson Motor Speedway last weekend. So with everyone drying out and eager to go racing, a big turnout is expected both nights. Leading
the charge into Baton Rouge Raceway will be Michael Herrington Jr. winner
of the most recent O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car show held at Baton Rouge
Raceway on June 13th. Herrington’s
victory marked the last time that Baton Rouge Raceway has been able to
host a race due to persistent rains but hopes are high that the races will
be run this Friday night. The
O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars will headline a full night of racing with the
O’Reilly Late Models, Coca-Cola UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks, Pure
Stocks, Cruisers and Yard Karts. The
gates open at The O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars will then travel to Jackson Motor Speedway for their second visit of 2003. And while Kelly Angelette is not expected to return to defend his victory back in May, the car he piloted, owned by Butch David will be on hand as Butch will be aiming for his first victory of the season at Jackson Motor Speedway. David is the defending O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Champion but he has seen an increase in competition this year as Darrell Hyde, Harold Henderson and Terry Vidrine have joined Michael Herrington Jr. in recording victories this year. Jackson
Motor Speedway will have an action-packed night of racing Saturday night,
July 12th as the O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars will be joined by
the CDM Conversions Mississippi Modified Series.
Also on hand will be the Mini Stocks, Modified Trucks, Street
Stocks and The
O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars would like to thank our 2003 Corporate
Sponsors: Hoosier Tire Southwest, Brodix, Afco, Trailer World, Wynn’s,
Fuel Safe, Hinchman Uniform, Saldana, Powder Coast Specialist and
Frankland Racing Supplies.
