Michael Herrington continues to dominate O'Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Series
Baton
Rouge, Louisiana (July 11, 2003) – While his nearest competitors
struggled, Michael Herrington Jr. grabbed the 2003 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint
Car Championship by the horns with his third victory of the season and
second –in-a-row at Baton Rouge Raceway.
Herrington was the top qualifier for the event and survived a
series of restarts to out duel fellow front row starter Shane Morgan for
the lead. Morgan tried his
best to get by Herrington for the lead but the Prairieville, And
while Herrington was scoring his third victory of the season, defending O’Reilly
SUPR Sprint Car Champ Butch David’s night was ending early as he spun on
lap 13 and collected the cars of Harold Henderson, Bobby Ingram and
Brandon Daniel. Only Michael Dupuy recovered from a pair of early spin outs, the first on the start when he and Harold Henderson got together and again on lap 3, to finish in third place ahead of Harold Henderson and Terry Vidrine. Billy Gunter returned to action and finished 6th ahead of Paul Gleber, the last car running at the checkers. Darrell Hyde Herman Carrier and Steve Murphy all saw their nights end early in the feature while Tank Brashier was unable to make the call for the feature. Michael Herrington, Jr. now leads the battle for the 2003 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Championship by 118 points over Terry Vidrine with 8 of 18 events complete. Official Results: 1.
