Baton Rouge, Louisiana (August 8, 2003) – Michael Dupuy made the right changes to his sprinter and was able to storm to his second O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car victory of the season at Baton Rouge Raceway. Dupuy started 7th in his Lester’s Body Shop/Trailer World/Pro Lube Center sprinter and used a combination of the right changes to his setup and a Diamond Engines SUPR spec motor to quickly work his way forward, taking the lead following a lap 9 caution. Dupuy was quick to thank the help he gets from Afco Shocks, Weld Racing and Taylor Wings and confessed that his car was way off in the heat race but he made the right choices for the feature and could drive just about anywhere on the track. “The fast groove was at the top but we could use the bottom for passing as everyone was running the top.” Dupuy overtook Terry Vidrine after Vidrine head led the first 9 laps. Vidrine started on the outside pole and out battled pole sitter Darrell Hyde for the lead. Vidrine looked strong early but Dupuy was able to get the jump n the restart and powered into the lead as the pair raced through turns 3 and 4. Vidrine was able to maintain his hold on second despite a heavy challenge first from Shane Morgan and then Michael Herrington, Jr. A pair of cautions in the late stages bunched up the field and several close battles raged with Vidrine holding off Herrington who was busy holding off both Morgan and Butch David. Dupuy was fortunate to have all the action going on behind him as he suffered a small puncture to his right rear but he was able to nurse it home to the finish. Darrell Hyde started on the pole but saw a promising night end early as he spun on lap 12 and collected Glynn LeBlanc in the process and both cars were finished for the night. The final caution of the race waved when Harold Henderson lost a motor in his racer. Michael Herrington, Jr. and Darrell Hyde shared the heat race victories. Official Results: 1. Michael Dupuy 2. Terry Vidrine 3. Michael Herrington, Jr. 4. Shane Morgan 5. Butch David 6.
7. Bobby Ingram 8. Wendell Magnon 9. Harold Henderson 10. Darrell Hyde 11. Glynn LeBlanc 12. Brandon Daniel
