Rob Litton tops Thunder Valley opener - rain wins on Sunday night
Glenmora, Louisiana (August 30, 2003) – The rain didn’t keep Rob Litton from victory lane as the O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car kicked off two nights of racing at Thunder Valley Speedway. Litton won his heat race and earned the B&K Underground Top Qualifier award in the process. Litton used his pole starting position to grab the lead right from the start of the 25-lap feature and led all 25-laps to take the win. Litton battled early with outside pole sitter Doug Ingalls and then held off a late charge by Curt Lipsey who took second from Ingalls following a lap 10 restart. The win marks Litton 3rd O’Reilly SUPR Late Model victory of the season and his second-in-a-row at Thunder Valley Speedway. Litton’s win came only after a brief delay for the drivers to roll the track in as a light rain kept everyone with one eye on the sky but the track packing paid off and a racy surface greeted the drivers in the feature and no enjoyed it more than Marlon Wild as he was able to charge through the field to finish a solid third after having started 13th. Wild kept the Lloyd Wild Jr. Logging Hard Charger money in the family due to his efforts. Doug Ingalls held on for 4th place despite running out of tear-aways early in the race. Ryan Plaisance rounded out the top 5 with Chris Wall, David Lafleur, Phillip Cooper, Kenny Merchant and Jim Bryant rounding out the top 10. 24 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand with Tommy Surrett, Doug Ingalls and Rob Litton taking the wins.
