Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Opener to Feature O'Reilly SUPR Late Models,
Modifieds

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (September 19, 2003) - Modified drivers will get to display their talents in the inaugural Texas World Dirt Track Championship Friday and Saturday nights, March 5-6, 2004 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, the first major event for modifieds in the speedway's history. Also participating in the event will be the late models of the O'Reilly Southern United Professional Racing Series.
The Texas World Dirt Track Championship will include two full nights of racing competition for the modifieds and O'Reilly SUPR Series on the four-tenths mile clay oval. Saturday night's TWDTC modified feature will offer $2,500 to win and $500 to start. The winner of Saturday's O'Reilly SUPR late model main will pocket $2,500 as well.
"There are more
IMCA-type modified stock cars in Texas than any other short-track division," said speedway general manager Eddie
Gossage. "More than 40 Texas speedways feature the modifieds each week. Modified racers from around the country have flooded our office with requests for a major event at the Dirt Track since it opened in 2000. The rules for the Texas World Dirt Track Championship will allow modified racers from all speedways to compete, which is exactly what we would like to see.
"Fans will get to see not one, but two, outstanding race programs each night at family-friendly prices. There will also be thousands of dollars in nightly prize giveaways for the fans as well."
"SUPR racing at Texas Motor Speedway is a huge step for our already fast-growing series," said SUPR president Greg Holmes. "It gives the series the ability to showcase some of the most talented drivers in the Southwest. With the quick action of the
modifieds, along with the big horsepower, full-bodied late models at such a premier dirt track facility, it is a tremendous opportunity for the drivers and fans to be part of a great event."
Modified rules for the weekend will be available online soon at www.texasmotorspeedway.com by clicking the Texas World Dirt Track Championship link. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under each night and will be on sale in the early fall.
