Michael Herrington two steps the competition at Thunder Valley

Glenmora, Louisiana (May 8, 2004) – The O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars swung into Cajun country and Michael Herrington did a two-step on the competition as he secured his second victory in as many races, taking the lead from pole sitter Harold Henderson on lap 18.  Herrington, the defending O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Champion appears to be in championship form again in 2004 despite an early season snafu.  Herrington started fourth and battle with the two guys his chasing in the point standings Henderson and 2002 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Champion Butch David.  The race was slowed just twice on the start with second row starter Shane Morgan spinning and then rookie competitor Jerry Aguillard spun on the restart.

Once the race went green it stayed that way with Henderson setting the pace but he was being stalked and Herrington was able to execute the pass for the lead on lap 18 and he went on to take the win over Henderson .  Despite the second place finish, Henderson continues stake sole claim on first place in the 2004 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Championship Standings.  Butch David slipped out of a first place tie with Henderson but didn’t slip far as David was one position behind Henderson in both their heat race and the feature.

Terry Vidrine recorded a solid fourth place finish just ahead of Shane Morgan, who recovered from the first lap spin to take home fifth place.  Brad Stokes, top rookie finisher Chris Buhler, Cassidy Lejeune, Billy Gunter and Richard Holt rounded out the top 10.

Harold Henderson topped the first heat race with Shane Morgan winning the second heat race.
