Doug Ingalls beats the rain and the competition at Champion Park!

Doyline, Louisiana (May 30, 2004) – Doug Ingalls beat the rain and the competition as the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models wrapped up a busy holiday weekend at Champion Park Speedway.  Ingalls started third behind B&K Underground Top Qualifier Dwight Falcon and Jay Blair.

The win for Ingalls was particularly sweet for Ingalls as it was his first 50-lap victory of the season, his second win of the season and it moved him up to second in the 2004 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Championship Point Standings behind Rob Litton.

Ingalls grabbed second from Blair on lap four and then began to hound Falcon who was running an aggressive pace up front on the wickedly fast Champion Park quarter mile.  Ingalls ran the bottom groove with Falcon strolling around the outside line and they raced side-by-side for numerous laps until a Falcon over charged turn two on lap 16 and Ingalls was able to outrun Falcon into turn three to takeover the lead.  Falcon would continue to challenge Ingalls for the lead but Doug was able to ease away and began to set a nice conservative pace up front.  This worked well until the final few laps as David Ashley and Rob Litton closed in to make a battle of it when Dwight Falcon brought out the final caution, his strong run coming to an end after contact with a ute tire.  Ashley and Litton closed in on Ingalls at the start with six to go but the Nash Trucking/Marshall Lube PTS powered GRT was up to the task and he left Ashley to fend off Litton for second.

26 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand.  Garrett Durrett, Ricky Ingalls, Doug Ingalls and Jay Blair topped the heat races while Curt Lipsey claimed the last chance race and Jeff Chanler earned the Creel Brothers Hard Charger award.
