67 Speedway rained out!

I-30 Speedway on tap for Late Models

on Saturday night!

Sprints await Deep South completion!

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (June 17, 2004) - The O'Reilly SUPR Late Models return to Arkansas this weekend has been cut to a one day show as the Friday night June 18th show at 67 Speedway in Texarkana has been rained out.  The O’Reilly SUPR Late Models will still make the run up Interstate 30 to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock where they’ll compete in a 50-lap $3,000 to win, $500 to start feature on Saturday night, June 19th.

Also, the O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car show slated for Saturday night, June 19th at Deep South Raceway in Loxley , Alabama has been postponed as construction delays continue to plaque the new Alabama speedway.  We’ll keep uou posted as to when the race is rescheduled.

The O’Reilly SUPR Late Models point leader entering this weekend is Rob Litton of Alexandria , Louisiana .  Always a constant threat to win on the SUPR tour, Litton has emerged as the man to beat this year as he’s recorded one victory but more impressively, Litton has finished second at four races and in the top five at eight of the first 12 races this season.

His closest competitor is dirt late model legend Doug Ingalls, the winningest driver in SUPR history with 39 victories to his credit.  Ingalls, a three-time SUPR Champion from Longview , Texas , is making one last run at the title and he currently sits in second place with two victories to his credit in 2004.  Ingalls is fielding the Nash Trucking/Marshall Lube Auto & Tire Center Pontiac Grand Prix and he’ll be aiming for his 40th SUPR career this weekend.

2000-2001 SUPR Champion Jay Blair from Angie, Louisiana is another competitor that is returning to winning form, heading to Arkansas after topping the competition last Saturday night at Pike County Speedway in McComb, Mississippi.  Ryan Plaisance is another south Louisiana competitor battling for the 2004 championship.  Plaisance has been consistent this season but is still seeking his first victory in 2004.  Another driver that appears to be headed for a victory this season is leading rookie of the year contender Ray Moore from Shreveport , Louisiana .  Moore has become a consistent top 5 competitor in the Moore Wireline/tic Chevrolet Monte Carlo and it is only a matter of time before he claims his first victory.

SUPR has made some rule changes this year that should make it more attractive for the local area Late Model competitors to compete with the O'Reilly SUPR Late Models.  SUPR will allow WRS-55 tires on the rear at all of the I-30 Speedway shows.  This is couple with the weight break changes announced earlier this year (open motors must weigh 2250 lbs. - down from 2300 at the end of the race and aluminum blocks motors are no longer required to carry 50 lbs. in front of the motor plate) and the I-30 events should be a competitive match-up between the SUPR touring pros and the local Arkansas racers.

Joining the O'Reilly SUPR Late Models at I-30 Speedway will be the IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks and Hobby Stocks.  Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and races start at 7:30 p.m.  Adult admission is $15 and kids 6 - 12 are $2 when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $25.  For more information please contact the O'Reilly SUPR offices at (225)-275-5040 or the I-30 Speedway offices at (501) 455-4567.
