Michael Dupuy returns to victory lane at Baton Rouge Raceway

Baton Rouge , Louisiana ( July 24, 2004 ) – Michael Dupuy wheeled the Dotted i Signs/D&S Embroidery/Ingram Motorsports B1 into victory lane at Baton Rouge Raceway in just the third time out for the team.  Dupuy outlasted Lane Whittington and Michael Herrington to take the win.  Afterwards Dupuy labeled the victory as surprising.  "We changed a mag earlier and fought it, trying to get it to run right.  Went out for the heat and didn't even set the car up or anything just jumped out there and it was actually good.  It's real surprising, from what we were fighting and then it all came together."

Dupuy started the feature on the inside of row two and joined Whittington in racing past pole sitter Terry Vidrine on lap two.  Dupuy and Whittington then battled side-by-side for several laps before Dupuy was able to take the lead on lap six.  They continued to battle but Dupuy was able to navigate lapped traffic a little bit more effectively and while Whittington was never very far behind Dupuy, he was unable to get back in the lead.  Whittington then was left to battle with Michael Herrington, who took over second on lap 18 but Whittington made a solid charge on the outside of Herrington to reclaim the runner-up position on lap 22.

Terry Vidrine started on the pole for the fourth time this season and held the lead at the end of the first lap before Dupuy and Whittington were able to get by.  Vidrine ran just behind the front duo before Herrington, who started seventh moved by for third on lap eight.  Vidrine held on to fourth the remainder of the race finishing ahead of Butch David, who was running in his back up car.

Cassidy Lejeune returning to action after missing the Jackson race recorded a solid sixth place finish, holding off Shane Morgan for the position.  Glynn LeBlanc was next across the line, with Shane Morgan's teammate Joey Pilgrim and Adam Moneyhun rounding out the top ten.

22 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars were on hand.  Terry Vidrine, Michael Dupuy and David Forbis topped the heat race action.  Heat two was the most exciting as the red flag waved twice with first Chris Buhler and then Harold Henderson exiting the track in turn one.  Both drivers walked away and Buhler actually raced his car in the feature, having landed right side up outside of turn one.  Henderson elected to park his ride for the night as he had his bell rung pretty good.
