Ronny Adams takes 13th Annual Armadillo Nationals!

Kilgore, Texas (August 7, 2004) - Ronny Adams was prepared for the 13th Annual Armadillo Nationals, having run and won at Lone Star Speedway the weekend prior, and his preparation paid off with a big win as he outlasted Duke Whiseant to win the 28th O'Reilly SUPR victory of his career.  Adams started on the outside pole in the C. Wrights Machine/All Pro Bumper to Bumper/Wilhelm Sales Larry Shaw Pontiac Grand Prix and used his motor by Neely and Associates to power to the lead at the drop of the flag.  Once in the lead, Adams would not relinquish his hold on the top spot despite the constant challenge from B&K Underground Top Qualifier Duke Whiseant.  Adams and Whiseant would hold the top two positions throughout the 50-lap feature while Kenny Merchant held a steady third ahead of Marlon Wild who would secure fourth.

As the race got rolling it was apparent that passing would be at a premium with the high groove proving to be the preferred line leaving racers with few chances to advance.  Tommy Surrett was one of the few able to move forward eventually climbing to fifth after starting 10th.  Doug Ingalls slipped back to sixth after starting third but he did gain a few points on Rob Litton in the battle for the 2004 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Championship as Litton finished seventh.  Tom Lorenz had another solid top ten run in eight followed by Ray Moore with Keith Craft rounding out the top 10.

39 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand.  Keith Craft, Rob Litton, Marlon Wild, Duke Whiseant and Doug Ingalls topped the heat races with Jay Blair and Jason Ingalls bagging the last chance races.  Michael Coleman earned the Creel Brothers Hard Charger award for passing the most cars in the feature as he started 21st and finished 12th.
