Ray Moore claims first O'Reilly SUPR L/M victory!

Rob Litton clinches 2004 O'Reilly SUPR L/M Championship!

Loxley, Alabama (October 23, 2004) – Ray Moore put an exclamation mark on his 2004 Late Model America Rookie of the Year title by winning his first-ever O’Reilly SUPR Late Model victory at Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Alabama.  It was a race that was long in coming as construction delays and Hurricane Ivan all conspired to cancel the first three races scheduled at the big fast South Alabama oval but the wait was well worth it for Moore as he stormed to the front from the start and held off former Rookie of the Year and two-time SUPR Champion Jay Blair for the victory.

The race was noteworthy as Rob Litton secured his first-ever O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Championship with two races remaining on the schedule.  Litton leads Doug Ingalls by 322 points in the standings and the maximum points available at the final two races is 262.

Moore started on the pole after B&K Underground Top Qualifier David Ashley suffered engine damage in his heat race and parked his car for the night.  Once out front, Moore held the field at bay for 39 laps and continued to lead when rain showers forced the SUPR officials to wave the checkers 11 laps shy of the 50 laps slated.

Moore , from Shreveport , Louisiana driving the tic Tools International/Moore Wireline Rocket clinched the 2004 Rookie Title with the victory and he reaffirmed the promise shown by the team for much of the year.

Jay Blair started on the outside pole but was unable to hold off Moore’s charge to the top line at the fast 4/10 mile oval and with the highline proving to be the fast way around the track, Blair was unable to get by Moore for the lead and settled for second ahead of K.I. Davis, who started seventh and worked his way to third at the checkers.  Curt Lipsey returned to SUPR action and recorded a solid fourth place finish ahead of Rob Litton.

Donald Watson, who ran as high as third finished sixth ahead of Doug Ingalls, Heath Oestricher, the Creel Brothers Hard Charger – Michael Sibley, Danny Mahan and Phillip Cooper.

18 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand but only 13 cars started due to motor failures on the big 4/10 mile oval.  David Ashley, Heath Oestricher and Ray Moore claimed the heat race victories.
