David Ashley earns pole for Cajun Classic

Baton Rouge, Louisiana (February 26, 2005) – David Ashley opened the 2005 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model season by topping the C&M Gator Farms Dash for Cash and in the process he earned the pole position for the Cajun Classic at Baton Rouge Raceway to be held tomorrow afternoon.  Not only did Ashley earn the pole position he pocketed $450 for his efforts - $250 posted by Baton Rouge Raceway and $200 posted by C&M Gator Farm.  Ashley started on the outside pole position and grabbed the lead from the start from B&K Underground Top Qualifier Keith Craft.  Ashley lead all eight laps, but had to hold off Marlon Wild who charged from sixth to second in the dash.

Keith Craft staked his claim on the B&K Underground Top Qualifier bonus by racing from fourth to first in the fourth heat race.  Craft was running a solid second when race leader Ray Moore dropped out with a flat left rear.  In other heat race action, Chris Wall topped the first heat race from the second starting spot with Mike Boland taking the second heat from the pole position.  David Ashley started his night off by winning the third heat from the third starting spot.  Marlon Wild rounded out the heat races by topping heat five from the second starting spot.

38 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand.  The top 16 have been looked in for the first feature with two last chance races set to determine the remaining starting positions.
