Terry Vidrine takes over point lead with victory at Deep South!

Loxley, Alabama (April 9, 2005) – Terry Vidrine from Slaughter, Louisiana claimed his fourth career O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car feature in dramatic fashion, passing Brad Stokes as they raced down the front stretch on the final lap to take the win at Deep South Speedway.  The victory also placed Terry Vidrine at the top of the 2005 O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars Championship standings for the very first time.

And while it was Vidrine celebrating in victory circle it was Stokes who appeared to be the class of the field early, winning his heat race and jumping out to a solid lead in the feature.  But unfortunately for Stokes, he was faced with a long haul back to Kountz , Texas and he had a motor that began to lose power in the closing stages of the race and Vidrine was able to make the pass on the final run to the checkers to the delight of the packed house.

The 25-lap feature was slowed only once for a caution on lap five when Paul Gleber broke.  From that point forward it was Stokes in charge up until the final laps with Vidrine in pursuit.  The battle for position in the top five also heated up with Harold Henderson holding steady in third while David Kountz made a final lap pass of Michael Herrington to grab fourth.  Seavy Clemmons held sixth ahead of Wendell Magnon, who was running Jerry Aguillard’s #00 in the feature after losing the motor in his car.  Billy Gunter and Paul Gleber rounded out the field.

The racing began with Terry Vidrine besting Michael Herrington to take the first heat victory with Brad Stokes topping Harold Henderson in the second heat.
