Point leader Ashley seeking NGK Shootout Prize!

Fort Worth, TX (April 11, 2005) - David Ashley has the credentials to win Saturday night's NGK Spark Plugs Shootout for O'Reilly SUPR late models at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. He can't wait for the chance to claim the richest prize in the series' 16-year history in Saturday's showdown, $10,000.

The Cajun State driver currently sits on top of the O'Reilly SUPR Late Model Series point standings by 65 markers over Kenny Merchant. Both know what it takes to be a champion, Ashley being the 1999 O'Reilly SUPR king while Merchant captured the 2003 title.

Ashley prepped for the NGK Spark Plugs Shootout by posting a pair of runner-up finishes March 4 and 5 at the Dirt Track in the Pro-Cuts Texas World Dirt Track Championship.

A total of 62 of the region's top late models participated in the Pro-Cuts weekend. Another outstanding field of late model stock cars is expected for the NGK Spark Plugs Shootout including NASCAR star Ken Schrader who placed sixth at the Dirt Track March 5. Competition will be fierce throughout the entire program as only 20 cars will comprise the feature starting field.

The O'Reilly SUPR Late Model Series utilizes a formula that provides exciting competition during the entire program that will include heat races and a pair of Last Chance events. A point system that rewards heat race finish with bonus points for passing cars will take just 16 drivers from the heat races to the feature. Just two cars from each Last Chance race will also move on.

A 50-lap feature on the four-tenths mile clay oval will reward the victor with a $10,000 pay day. Joining the O'Reilly SUPR late models on the program will be the Legends Cars.
