Michael Herrington claims biggest win of his career at Deep South Speedway!

Loxley , Alabama ( July 30, 2005 ) – Michael Herrington put an end to the carburetor-era of the O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Car Series by winning his fifth race of the season and the 22nd of his career.  The O’Reilly SUPR Sprint Cars will be shifting to injected motors beginning next week when the Sprinters return to action at Simpson County Motor Speedway and chances are Michael Herrington will be in contention for yet another win.

This was the first victory for Herrington on the big bad Deep South Speedway and with the win Herrington has now won at least one win on each track on the 2005 calendar.

Herrington had the dominant car tonight and he claimed a series record winning purse of $2,500.  In the process he put some distance on he nearest championship contender, Terry Vidrine, who had his first finish outside the top three all season with a sixth place run tonight.

Vidirine won at Deep South in April and was looking to repeat that finish with the big money on the line started off his night by winning the first heat race but he was unable to keep up with the pace being set by the front runners.

Shane Morgan, who won at Deep South Speedway last year ran a solid second holding off the hard charging Michael Dupuy.  Morgan was right in the thick of the points battle last year and he appears to be returning to that form after missing a few races at the beginning of the season, Morgan has climbed up to fifth in the current standings.

Michael Dupuy, who won the first two sprint cars shows he entered with his new car had his win streak snapped, starting sixth and finishing third.  Fellow Amite , Louisiana racer Harold Henderson scored fourth with Seavy Clemmons rounding out the top five.

Despite the extra purse posted by Deep South Speedway, threatening weather kept the car count down with sixteen O’Reilly SUPR Sprinters on hand.  Terry Vidrine won the first heat with Lincoln Gatwood taking the second.
