2006 O'Reilly SUPR Late Model schedule released!
BATON ROUGE, La. -- The 2006
O'Reilly Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) Late Model schedule
has been released and it features 40 races with plenty of special events
included to spice up the action. 2006 will see SUPR return to favorites
like Fast Trax Speedway, Battleground Speedway and Batesville Speedway.
2006 will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models go head to head with the
World of Outlaws, the Southern All Stars and the Mississippi State
Championship Challenge Series. Add to that return visits to long time
favorites Baton Rouge Raceway, I-30 Speedway, Champion Park Speedway,
Devil's Bowl Speedway, Deep South Speedway, Thunder Valley Speedway,
State Fair Speedway, Houston Raceway Park and Pike County Speedway and a
first time visits to ArkLaTex Speedway and Simpson County Motor Speedway
and 2006 looks to be the strongest SUPR schedule in years.
The 2006 schedule will begin earnest on Friday, February 24th with the
2nd Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Cajun Classic at Baton Rouge (La.)
Raceway followed closely by Saturday night show just up the road at Pike
County Speedway in Magnolia, MS on February 25th. The next weekend will
see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models headline the two-night 3rd Annual
Pro-Cuts Texas World Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway
with two complete shows on Friday night, March 3rd and Saturday night,
March 4th.
Racing in March will continue with the series visiting Champion Park in
Haughton, Louisiana for the first of four events on Saturday night,
March 11th followed by the return visit of the World of Outlaw Late
Models on Friday night, March 17th at Baton Rouge and Saturday night,
March 18th at Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, Louisiana. Each race pays
$10,000 to win.
April will kick off on the first with a visit to Thunder Valley Speedway
in Glenmora, Louisiana and then will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models
return to Batesville Speedway for the first time since 1997. The
Batesville action begins on Friday night, April 14th with a 25-lap
$2,000 to win feature followed by a 50-lap $4,000 to feature on Saturday
night, April 15th. The series will then travel to Deep South Speedway in
Loxley, Alabama for the first of 3 shows on Saturday night, April 22nd
before returning to Pike County Speedway on Saturday night, April 29th.
Houston Raceway Park will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models on May 6th
with the cars then paying a first-time visit to Gene Boyter’s ArkLaTex
Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana on Saturday night, May 20th. Memorial Day
weekend will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models competing at Champion
Park on Saturday night, May 27th and then running against the
Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series(MSCCS) at Pike County
Speedway on Sunday night, May 28th.
June will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models return to Battleground
Speedway for the first time since 1998 with the running of the Rumble in
the Jungle on Saturday night, June 3rd. Its back to Pike County on
Saturday night, June 10th followed by two shows at I-30 Speedway on
Friday night, June 16th and Saturday night, June 17th. Fast Trax will
see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models on Saturday night, June 24th and Baton
Rouge Raceway will host them on Friday night June 30th, the first night
of a busy 4 day July 4th weekend.
Saturday night, July 1 will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models at
Champion Park before the tour heads west to Devil’s Bowl Speedway in
Mesquite, Texas on Sunday night and then the tour will visit the third
state in as many nights as the tour visits State Fair Speedway in
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Monday night, July 3rd. Deep South Speedway
beckons on Saturday night, July 8th with another two shows at I-30
Speedway on Friday night, July 14th and Saturday night, July 15th.
After a few weeks of recovery time, the swings back in to action with a
return visit to the 7th Annual John L. Cliett Tribute at Columbus
Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The Saturday night, August 5th show
will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models compete for the first time
against the O’Reilly Southern All Stars. August will conclude with a
final visit to Pike County Speedway on Saturday night, August 26th.
Labor Day will see another four-day race weekend starting on Friday
night, September 1st with the second of three MSCCS Challenge races. The
O’Reilly SUPR Late Models then head north on Saturday night, September
2nd for a solo visit to Thunder Valley Speedway and Sunday night,
September 3rd will once again see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models solo at
Champion Park Speedway before reconnecting with the MSCCS competitors on
Monday night, September 4th at Simpson County Motor Speedway. September
9th will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models competing in the 5th Annual
Longhorn Rumble at Houston Raceway Park, now a $5,00 to win 100-lap
race.
Saturday night, October 7th will see the final O’Reilly SUPR Late Model
visit of the season to I-30 Speedway and the final visit of the season
to Deep South Speedway will occur on Saturday night, October 21st, a
$5,000 to win 50 lap race. The O’Reilly SUPR Late Models will return to
Devil’s Bowl Speedway for two shows on Friday night, October 27th and
Saturday night, October 28th.
The season will come to a close with the running of the 2006 Louisiana
State Championship at Baton Rouge Raceway on Saturday night, November
11th.
