Chris Wall sweeps through Batesville weekend doubleheader!

Batesville, Arkansas (April 15, 2006) -  Chris Wall doubled up in O’Reilly SUPR Late Model competition at Batesville Speedway but where last night was a wire-to-wire victory, tonight’s run was a major effort for Wall as he started 11th and had to chase down early leader Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth making the pass for the lead on lap 29 and holding off a late charge from 16th starting Stacy Taylor.  Wall jumped on the roof of his car to celebrate in victory lane after topping the 50-lap feature that went caution-free.

The race started with Jason Cliburn on the pole after having earned the B&K Underground Top Qualifier award and Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth on the front row.  Cliburn slipped high in turn two and Hollingsworth shot to the lead with second row starters Rob Litton and David Ashley grabbing second and third.  The field spread across the race track racing four wide in the early stages with Wall running the tight inside line to advance to 5th by lap two while Keith Craft moved to third at the same time.  Wall moved by Ashley to grab fourth on lap three and looked poised to drive to the lead in the early stages of the race but his charge would hold for several laps as Hollingsworth, Litton and Craft were all running strong up front.  It would be lap 14 before Wall would move by Craft and lap 18 before he got by Litton.

Wall closed in on Hollingsworth but lapped traffic proved to be an issue at this point and the battle for the lead still included Litton and at this point it also included Stacy Taylor who started 16th.  Wall made a strong charge fell back and then took the lead with an outside pass of Hollingworth on lap 29.  Taylor meanwhile was hemmed in behind Hollingsworth and Litton as they battled for second.  Taylor would pass both cars on lap 44 and began his pursuit of Wall but with a straightaway lead and just six laps remaining, Taylor ’s charge would end with a second place finish.  Taylor would earned the Creel Brothers Hard Charger award for passing 14 cars in the feature.

32 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand.  Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth, Rob Litton, David Ashley and Keith Craft won the heat races with Gary Stolba and Kenny Merchant claiming the last chance wins.

2004 O'Reilly SUPR Late Model champion Rob Litton has grabbed a large lead in the O'Reilly SUPR National point standings following this weekend's action leading Kenny Merchant 625 points to 484 and Greenwood, Louisiana's Lee Davis is leading the ArkLaTex regionby 25 points over Merchant, 327 to 302.
