Vivian, Louisiana (May 19, 2007) – Saturday night was a coming out party for second generation driver Kyle Cummings as he survived a frantic battle with Kenny Merchant to claim his career first O’Reilly SUPR Late Model feature. Kyle, son of 1998 SUPR Champion Rusty Cummings, showed promise from his very first race in the Childress Fishing & Rental/Trucker’s Paradise PTS-powered Pontiac GTO GRT and that promise turned into reality as Kyle got his night off to a strong start as he started dead last in the second heat race and he stormed to the front to take the win and the pole position for the feature. To his outside was SUPR legend Kenny Merchant and the two would battle back and forth over the first 39 laps with Cummings running the bottom groove and Merchant running around the outside line. Merchant was battling for the lead when his rear tire went flat. He would hit pit road for a change and storm back to 10th at the finish.
With Cummings free up front, attention shifted to second as Rob Litton and Jason Ingalls staged their own battle with Litton holding off Ingalls for the runner-up finish. Further back, Ray Moore was staging his own show. Moore broke a motor in hot laps and spent the heat races in the pits changing motors. The work paid off with Moore starting on the rear and racing his way all the way up to fourth at the checkers. Robbie Stuart rounded out the top five.
Kenny Merchant opened the night up by winning heat number one while Cummings won the second and Howard Willis out dueled Doug Ingalls to win the third.
