David Ashley conquers HRP!

Houston, TX (June 9, 2007) – David Ashley continued his season-long hot streak scoring his fifth O’Reilly SUPR victory of the season in just six races with a win tonight at Houston Raceway Park.  Ashley started fourth in the B&K Underground/Serco/J&J Motorsports Jay Dickens-powered Chevrolet Monte Carlo TrakStar and chased down the pole sitter David Breazeale for the lead on lap 14.  Ashley would set the pace for the remainder of the race with Breazeale following home in second with Ray Moore scoring an impressive third after starting on the tag end of the 26-car field.  Kyle Cummings continues to impress with a fourth place finish tonight with Robbie Stuart, winner of the first O’Reilly SUPR race of the season at HRP, finishing fifth.  Ryan Plaisance, Lee Davis, Allen Tippen, Howard Willis and Chris Brown rounded out the top ten.

Ashley returned to Houston Raceway Park for the first time since the track was shortened during the off-season and he felt right at home on the South Texas speed plant.  I had a very good car tonight and I knew right from the start of the race that barring mechanical failure I was going to the front.”  Ashley’s hunch was right as the car did just what it was expected to do and he was able to motor to the front.  As for the changes made to HRP they didn’t affect Ashley’s performance.  The track is shorter but it still played the same.”

Ashley is having a dream season, winning consistently in O’Reilly SUPR and Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series events, scoring seven wins to date.  And he’s doing it with a mostly under aged crew alternating between his sons and some younger aspiring racers.  Tonight he was helped by his son Grant and his wife, Carla.

27 O’Reilly SUPR Late Models were on hand and racing started with Michael Coleman winning heat one followed by Breazeale scoring the win in heat two. David Ashley topped heat three with Sam Patrick doing the same in heat 4.  26 cars started the 50-lap feature with only Doug Bignaud missing the call with a wounded motor.

The race would go green for two laps when Rob Litton spun collecting Jason Ingalls, Ryan Fontenot and Kenny Merchant; Fontenot and Merchant where finished for the night.  Ashley would take the lead on lap 14
