Ashley aces SUPR/MSCCS Challenge @ D'Lo but fails post race inspection handing victory to Scott Slay!

Update - September 6, 2007 - David Ahley was disqualified by the O'Reilly SUPR Late Model Series for running with titanium valves, handing the victory back to Scott Slay.

D’Lo, Mississippi (August 31, 2007) – David Ashley started 15th and after a conservative start made a late charge to pass Scott Slay to claim the O’Reilly SUPR vs. MSCCS Challenge race at Simpson County Motorsports Park.  Slay had led the race from the start and he had the car to beat throughout the first ¾’s of the race.  That is until several long cautions kept the track packed down and worked against Slay’s car and in to Ashley’s hands.  Slay saw his car setup go away and Ashley was able to work underneath the #6 Mississippi Bonding Company car.  Slay would battle back from the outside line and the pair raced side-by-side for several laps before lapped traffic slowed Slay just enough for Ashley to pull away for the win in the B&K Underground/Serco/J&J Motorsports Jay Dickens-powered GRT.

Jason Cliburn race second for much of the race and then held off Ryan Plaisance to finish third with Plaisance closely followed by Chad Thrash.  The next five positions swapped back and forth over the final stages of the race with Ray Moore grabbing sixth followed by Robbie Stuart, Allen Tippen, Marlon Wild and Dennis Duncan rounding out the top 10.

27 SUPR & MSCCS Late Models were on hand.  Jack Daughtry started on the pole after winning heat race number two from the outside pole.  He was joined on the front row by Scott Slay, winner of heat 1.  Jason Cliburn won the third heat.
