2008 Late Model Schedule Released
Baton Rouge, LA – The 2008 O’Reilly Southern
United Professional Racing (SUPR) Late Model
schedule has been released and it features 38
races with plenty of special events included to
spice-up the action. 2008 will see SUPR return
to favorites like Fast Trax Speedway, Pike
County Speedway, and Batesville Speedway. 2008
will see the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models go head
to head with the Southern All Stars and the AMP
series. It will feature another first with the
O’Reilly Challenge being hosted at the Lucas Oil
Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri featuring all of
the O’Reilly sponsored Late Model series
including BOB, NCRA, MARS, MLRA, MSRA, SAS,
SASE, TORA and SUPR. Add to that first time
visits to Paris Motor Speedway and Greenville
Speedway. 2008 will also make return visits to
long time favorites Baton Rouge Raceway, I-30
Speedway, Champion Park Speedway, Devil’s Bowl
Speedway, Columbus Speedway, Houston Raceway
Park, Golden Triangle formerly Motorama
Speedway, ArkLaTex Speedway and Sabine Motor
Speedway and looks to be one of the strongest
schedules in recent years.
The 2008 schedule
will begin earnest on Saturday, March 15th at
Champion Park Speedway in Minden, Louisiana. The
next weekend the O’Reilly SUPR Late Models will
head to home of Mark Martin, Batesville,
Arkansas and Batesville Speedway with two
complete shows on Friday night March 21st and
Saturday night, March 22nd.
April will kick off on the 12th with a first
time visit to Greenville Speedway in Greenville,
Mississippi for the first of five events,
followed by a trip to the Bayou State starting
off Friday night April 18th at Baton Rouge
Raceway in Baker, LA followed closely by a
Saturday night show just up the road at Pike
County Speedway in Magnolia, Mississippi on
April 19th. The series will then travel to the
Lone Star State for a weekend starting out
Friday night April 25th at Golden Triangle
Speedway (formerly Motoroma Speedway) in
Beaumont, Texas and then travel a little further
west to Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas
on Saturday, April 26th.
ArkLaTex Speedway in Vivian, Louisiana will host
the SUPR Late Models on Saturday, May 3rd with
the cars making a return visit to Columbus
Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for the 9th
annual John L. Cliett Tribute on May 10th. The
Saturday night show will see the O’Reilly SUPR
Late Models compete against the O’Reilly
Southern All Stars. The series will then travel
south to Pike County Speedway on Saturday, May
17th. Memorial Day weekend will see the O’Reilly
SUPR Late Models return to Sabine Motor Speedway
in Many, Louisiana for the first time since 2003
on Friday, May 23rd, then on Saturday, May 24th
head to Champion Park Speedway and finish up the
three race weekend up on Sunday, May 25th at
Fast Trax Speedway in Chatham, Louisiana.
June will start off with a two day event
starting off Friday, June 6th at Baton Rouge
Raceway and then travel to Pike County Speedway
on June 7th. The O’Reilly Challenge will be next
on the schedule as the series travels north to
Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on
June 21st and 22nd, Friday night will include
qualifying heat races and a special race of
Champions, and it will consist of the latest two
champions in each series invited to this special
race. On Saturday there will be consolation
races and a 51 lap main event to honor O’Reilly
Auto Parts 51 year anniversary. The series will
then travel to I-30 Speedway to challenge the
Arkansas based AMP series on Friday, June 27th
and Saturday, June 28th.
Fourth of July weekend will be a three day tour
starting Thursday night July 3rd at the famous
Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas and
then on Friday July 4th travels east on I-20 to
Champion Park Speedway in Minden, Louisiana and
the final stop of the weekend will be at Fast
Trax Speedway in Chatham, Louisiana on Sunday,
July 5th. After a week off the SUPR Late Models
will head to Greenville Speedway in Greenville,
Mississippi for a challenge race with the
Arkansas based AMP series. The SUPR Late Models
conclude July by visiting Golden Triangle on
Friday, July 25th and the 26th at Houston
Raceway Park.
August will start off with its final 2008 visit
and double header at I-30 Speedway on the 1st
and 2nd. The series then moves to Pike County
Speedway on the 16th. Labor Day weekend will be
all work for the drivers and crews on the
O’Reilly SUPR Late Model series with Greenville
Speedway on Saturday, August 30th and then
traveling to Champion Park where the Triple A
Diesel ArkLaTex Regional Champion will be
crowned on Sunday, August 31st.
The following
weekend the series will visit Houston Raceway
Park for the 7th Annual Longhorn Rumble on
Saturday, Sept. 6th. Paris Motor Speedway will
host it’s first ever SUPR Late Model event on
Friday, September 19th with the 20th still to be
determined. September will conclude in Texas at
the Great American Speedway - Texas Motor
Speedway on September 26th and 27th with two
separate shows.
The month of October will start off with the
final visit of 2008 to Pike County Speedway on
Saturday, October 4th and then makes its final
swing in the Lone Star State to crown the Barber
Specialties East Texas Champion at Houston
Raceway Park on October 11th. The season finale
will be held at Baton Rouge Raceway on Saturday
night October 17th. The 50 lap event will pay
$2,500 to win and will see the crowning of the
2008 O’Reilly SUPR Late Model Champion as well
as the MasterVac Gulf South Champion.
The Annual SUPR banquet will see the awarding of
the overall champions check and the three
regional champions checks in November.
