SUPR Late
Models Race
@ Greenville
Speedway
For the first time in series history, Greenville
(Miss.) Speedway will host the veteran drivers
of the O'Reilly Auto Parts Southern
United Professional Racing tour when the series
visits the Mississippi Delta quarter-mile oval
on April 12. Among those expected to attack
the gumbo-clay oval are Bub McCool of Vicksburg,
Miss., who won last fall's Gumbo Nationals at
Greenville, and reigning O'Reilly SUPR champion
Ray Moore of Shreveport, La., who battled McCool
in that October victory.
Kyle Cummings of Minden, La., by virtue of his
victory in the season's one race at Champion
Park Speedway in Haughton, La., is leading
the O'Reilly SUPR points heading into the
Greenville event followed by Howard Willis of
Dayton, Texas, and Ronny Adams of Greenwood,
La., two of SUPR's old-school veterans. Moore
stands fourth in the points ahead of former SUPR
champion Rob Litton of Alexandria, La.
The main event pays $2,500 to the winner and at
least $400 to each starter as SUPR runs its
first race in Mississippi since Sept. 15.
In five series visits to the Magnolia State in
2007, three-time SUPR champion David Ashley won
three times.
Gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. on April
12 with racing at 7:30 p.m.
