Tire Test for Monroe Motor Speedway

On Sunday, March 15th we conducted a tire test to see which compound we will be using on April 18th.  We used Kenny Merchants car for the test because he lives in W. Monroe and I could concentrate on evaluating the tires and changes we may have to make to the cars.  The tire test went exceptionally well, we ran a total of 61 laps on the left front, right front and left rear tires, we ran 45 laps on the right rear tire, which were all the same compound a S1600, at 45 laps the right rear has ½ of the exposed tread left and no sign of blistering, the right front showed slight and even wear after we made camber adjustment, we did very little adjustments to the car as this was a tire test and any adjustments we made were to make sure we weren’t over working one tire.  Monroe Motor Speedway is open on Thursday nights for anyone to practice, but on Friday night, April 17th the track will be open to late models only.  This is a great facility and hope you make every effort to attend and be part of something new and challenging.  On another note SUPR tires can only be purchased from SUPR at this time, you can either purchase them at the track or you can call Greg at 225-978-7079 and we'll ship them to you, we also have front tires in stock.

The following are suggestions to do before you get to practice to get you in the ballpark.

Front Springs: Right Front / 450-500
                         Left Front / 400-450

Rear Springs:  Left Rear / 250 in front of Bird Cage
                        Right Rear / 225-300

Four Bars:  Lower Rods – Level
Upper Rods – Lower rods as much as you can, not to much uphill.

Air Pressure:  Right Side – 25lbs   Left Side – 18lbs (Nitrogen if possible)

J-Bar: Raise J-bar on pinion to just above center line of pinion.

Stagger:  3-5”

Bite with Driver:  130-200lbs

Maximum Left side weight will be 57% of the total weight of the car and no more.

Tires will be the following on April 18th no exceptions.
Left Front – 88.0 S1600

Right Front – 88.0 S1600

Left Rear – 88.0 S1600

Right Rear – 90.0 S1600

NO SWAY BARS ON THE FRONT OF CAR ALLOWED

This is a dirt car only show, no asphalt cars will be allowed to intermix. The cars set in these parameters look close to asphalt cars and are faster, the times during the test were between 14:20 and 14:40 and didn’t show signs of slowing down at the end of long runs.  If you have any questions on this you may call me anytime at 225-275-5040.  This will be a great show if we work at it.
