BOOTHILL IN THE CROSSHAIRS FOR SUPR OPENER

(April 11, 2017) - The countdown clock was reset after the 171 cancellation this past weekend and now the Southern United Professional Racing DLM Series now has Boothill Speedway slate for the 2017 season opener on Saturday, April 29th.

The event will feature Boothill's weekly divisions on the undercard of the 40-lap, $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start SUPR feature. The event will mark the 68th visit for the 28-year old tour.

Boothill was the most frequented track last year for the series, holding three events (March-May-July) and producing three different winners in victory lane.

In fact, "The Hill" has not had a repeat SUPR winner since June 2012 to present (five races), as "Rocket" Ray Moore of nearby Haughton, has been the only driver to accomplish the feat since the track was shortened to its current 1/4-mile configuration -the '07 Southern United Professional Racing Series' Champion has three wins on the latest Greenwood-track transformation in SUPR competition.

Among the other weekly Boothill Speedway classes running this season is Modifieds, Limited Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Four-Cylinders and ProMods.

SUPR THROTTLES UP FOR 2017, RELEASES SCHEDULE

by Bryan Wimberley
SUPR DLM Series correspondent

BATON ROUGE, La. (February 12)
- As it gets closer and closer to "go time", the Southern United Professional Racing Series is set to begin an amazing 28th season of dirt racing action. So far on the slate of events, SUPR will visit seven different venues across three states, that include two double-headers.

The series will open up its 696th dirt late model event at Leesville 171 Speedway, headlining "Boudreaux's Rumble In The Bayou" on April 8th. The track recently took on new management under Dustin Ager the last couple of weeks. Last season, the teammates of DP Motorsports sweep the SUPR events at 171 Speedway in June.

After opening weekend, the SUPR Series also make separate stops at 171 in late May, again in a mid-summer July appearance and then to close out the season for a finale on October 7th, making it the most frequented setting on the circuit.
As it currently stands, SUPR's May 20th date at Leesville could be a projected milestone for the series, marking an astonishing 700th sanctioned event for the Southern United Professional Racing Series.

SUPR will continue a busy month of April, taking to the banks of the oldest dirt track in Louisiana, making an appearance at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood on April 29, after heading to the series' home-track of Baton Rouge Raceway on the 22nd.

Then it is off to the great state of Texas for the first of two trips of 2017, one at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore on July 1st and a early fall date at Battleground Speedway in Highlands on September 16th.
Lone Star's Firecracker 40 currently stands as the biggest winning purse on the '17 tour.

An exciting return to a past mainstay is anticipated, when the Southern United Professional Racing Series goes back to Mississippi and the co-owned track of Wesley Washington and James Clolinger of Greenville Speedway. The series returns to the House of Gumbo for a weekend double-header on August 11th and 12th.

Some of the biggest news coming in the off-season was the re-emergence of Pike County Speedway being put back on the map by new owners, Brian and Penny DeRoche, purchased in November 2016. The track laid dormant for four seasons and this August, SUPR will return to the speedway, located off Interstate 55, for the first time in nearly seven years! In the last SUPR race held at Pike County Speedway, 2002 series champion, Rodney Wing of Meridian, Miss., took home $5,000 in the once annual Jambalaya 100, in November 2010.

Will someone become SUPR's 17th different champion or will there be a repeat driver to add another championship notch to their belt -we shall see!
